Important to or important for?

written by Bill Teach

OMG! Which one is it?

It actually depends on the construction of the phrase and the meaning.

Note:
  • My becoming a Doctor was more important to my father than to me. (in other words it mattered more to his father)
  • A healthy nutrition is important for his growth. (essential, needed)
  • It is important for him to pass the exam. (use for when using the      structure +to infinitive)
One more thing...

Let's not forget the following construction:
  • It is important that you study hard every day.
Well, that is it for now. If you have any comments, questions or even suggestions about the tips, please, write me back.
